About Helga Hayse

Two years before she was widowed, Helga created “A Wife’s Guide to Financial Intimacy” to teach women about the need for financial participation in their marriage. Just as she was launching the seminar in the public arena, Helga’s husband died suddenly in an accident. The information she had researched to teach other women helped save her life.

Helga is the founder of The Institute for Vital Aging, a California non-profit organized to teach people in midlife about renewed opportunities for wellness and healthy aging.

She is a member of the American Society on Aging and was an invited speaker at the 2006 annual convention.

Helga has presented seminars for New York Life, Allstate Life, and Merrill Lynch and offers public seminars for women. She talks to financial planning and legal organizations about the importance of helping their clients initiate intergenerational conversations about money, love and legacy. She is currently writing a book about the subject.

“Don’t Worry About a Thing, Dear” – Why Women Need Financial Intimacy is based on Helga’s experience of being widowed suddenly but being prepared by having the financial and emotional tools to survive and thrive.

Helga is also the author of “Reconstructing Aphrodite”, a book of interviews with women who have survived breast cancer.
